Such a book exists. It’s called the Bible. But today, in our post-modern culture precious few people truly understand what the Bible is. That’s where I come in.
As the Faith Doctor with your Rx for Life, I regularly prescribe personal Bible study. But not merely a study of the various books, chapters and passages. Rather, a study about the Bible itself. Once you understand about the Bible’s origin, its development, its fulfilled prophecies, its uniqueness in contrast to all other documents of religious authority, and more, you will then find studying what’s written in it utterly compelling!
In 2000, I was called upon to conduct a workshop about Bible study for a regional event that would be attended 100% by Christians-people who were likely to already study the Bible. But, I thought, if they are like many people, they study the Bible out of a sense of duty or obligation, or they consider the ancient stories irrelevant for today. Certainly they are not approaching their study with the delight and awe they could. That’s when I realized my opportunity to help them learn about the Bible itself, confident that it would garner the excitement and attraction the Bible deserves.
I created my workshop and a stand-alone workbook and at the conclusion of my presentation I had overwhelming confirmation that I was right! Once people understand the astounding realities about the Bible, then studying it becomes a treasure hunt.
