Life has a way of beating us down and eroding our optimism. Whether it is due to intermittent seasons of adversity and recovery or a long haul with little to no reprieve, each of us fight the battle of hope.
Finding hope is especially difficult when we endure troubles that come to us through no fault of our own. The tragic death of a loved one, the break-up of a marriage, the unexpected loss of income. These are adversities that I have personally suffered. I understand. And if you, like I have, experience a long term of adversity, much more than your hope suffers—so does your faith.
Hope and faith are interrelated, as each directs our attention to a positive outcome. Hope and faith are driving forces that inspire us to press on with tenacity. Some are better at this than others. But each of us can find ourselves at seasons in life where we just need a personal breakthrough!
As I’ve come to learn, our hope is only as confident as our conviction of faith. If our faith is weak and uncertain, so is our hope. That is why my book series, Faith to Live By, begins with the first book, Examine Your Faith! Finding Truth in a World of Lies. It seeks to have you examine what you believe and why you believe it so that your faith is in tact when you need it the most. The first book addresses saving or essential faith.
This second book, Renew Your Hope! Remedy for Personal Breakthroughs is written for those who need to discover the power of being a sold-out Christ Follower. These Believers are the ones able to display what I call effective faith. It is this kind of faith that is essential to experience breakthroughs and have your hope restored.
Of the estimated seventy-five percent of Americans who profess to be Christian, one-third are referred to as Cultural Christians meaning they are in name sake only without a vibrant faith. Another one-third are categorized Congregational Christians who have some ties to a home church but they do not practice the Christian faith in their daily lives. This means that roughly sixty-six percent of all who profess the Christian faith don’t fully operate in the victory and joy Christ died to provide us in this life!1 That’s a lot of people who need to have their hope renewed!
The Christian faith, when genuinely embraced, allows a person to be made completely new—radically transformed from the inside out. And more, as a Christian Believer seeks to grow in his/her faith they are able to access the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit who is given to guide and empower every Believer. Renew Your Hope! Remedy for Personal Breakthroughs seeks to help you learn how to apply your Christian faith in such a way that you experience every bit of the abundant life Christ offers.
Since genuinely calling out to God, in my personal faith crisis, needing Him to help me with my mess of a life, (as I share in my first book), I’ve been on a journey to discover the vibrant Christian life Christ taught about, and died to make possible. Yes, it is difficult to live a joy-filled victory life in this fallen world, but Christ said we can. I don’t want to settle for less. Neither should you.
Faith is not something that is easily defined. And sadly, the most popular online dictionaries fail in their attempt to define faith. I explore this in the first book then offer my own definition for the word faith: “Faith is having a sufficient amount of objective, verifiable evidence to allow a person to believe for what is yet to subsist.” Think about that.
- Faith is not blind—there is a sufficient amount of evidence to believe.
- Faith is not wishful thinking—it is based on verifiable substance.
- Faith is not uncertain hope—there is an element of mystery to faith, but it is overshadowed by what is confidently known.
- Faith is based on truth—truth that allows a Christian to confidently expect supernatural changes in the natural.
- Faith that Christ commends—is faith in Him, expecting that He will act in the Believer’s behalf.
A confident faith is the key to having our hope realized. As the “Faith Doctor with Your Rx for Life!” I want to help!
