Considering the times in which we live, with all the terror and violence, religious persecution, tremendous global unrest, world-wide economic and governmental uncertainty–there are many reasons people could feel completely distraught and overwhelmingly hopeless.
So here is where I ask you, where do you place your hope? In what or whom do you place your faith?
Against the backdrop of the wickedness and evil in these times, there is an undeniable hope percolating. Prayers and pleadings from deep within the hearts of men and women, never surfaced before are being uttered. Where is this hope coming from? How is it that we maintain a deep-seated innate hope in the face of such atrocities?
I assert that it’s because we are made in God’s image. I believe it’s because the historical reality of the person and work of Jesus Christ is still testified and will be testified until the end of the earth. It is the faith, hope and prayers of those who know God who will influence others to seek the same faith for themselves to overcome hopelessness.
What can we know about our hope or our future? It can be found in the pages of the Bible.
In Jeremiah 29:11-14, God speaks to His people who are being brutally treated and held in captivity. His words of hope and promise to them are ours to embrace today:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you [those who seek to know God], thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will see Me and find Me, when you search form Me with all your heart.”
If you will simply be open to the potential reality of the love and hope of God demonstrated in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ, I assure you, you will come to discover and live in the same life-giving hope that I, and hundreds of thousands of others have been blessed to find. I want you to find this peace, comfort and hope in the midst of the worst of situations.
