Christian Weight Loss Program
Pamela Christian – Monday, February 09, 2015
* Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to go on a diet January 1st, but find that you resolves have already been dissolved?
* Can you eat more than your children’s combined weight in Twinkies?
* Does the idea of starting yet another diet make you hungry because dieting is overwhelming and intimidating?
If so, try something new! After a lifetime of failed diets and extra pounds, I discovered a way to lose weight the lighthearted way! Over 30 years ago when I lost my weight, I began learning that weight-loss doesn’t have to be intimidating and awful. Believe it or not, we can have fun in the process.
I’m an R.N., internationally recognized weight-loss coach, motivational speaker and the author of 12 books. My daughter, Sarah Morris Cherry, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has counseled people from 2 to 92—teaching them new ways to deal with stress as well as facts about healthy living. Together, we have developed a humor-filled 12-week Christian weight-loss program designed to help you to lose weight by keeping you motivated, learning…and laughing!
Here are some of the exciting new things you’ll learn:
- Discover how to rely on God’s power when you need willpower
- Learn how to stop eating over stress
- Have fun with friends and family while you lose weight together
By spending just a few minutes every day working the program, you will be amazed to find yourself losing not only the weight, but the worries that weigh you down. You will discover how to shrink outside and grow inside as you learn practical ways to draw closer to Jesus and understand how to apply biblical truths to your every-day life.
- Tripped on a Twinkie
- Are Donuts My Bread of Life?
- My Refuge—the Refrigerator
- Do Broken Cookies Count?
- Resentments Are Fattening
- Is Fudge My Fortress?
Maryanne said, “I lost 40 pounds in 12 weeks while reading Guided By Him! I discovered that, with God, I can succeed!”

For over 30 years, Julie Morris has been helping people grow in their relationship with Christ. Author of 12 books and dynamic motivational speaker, Julie’s passion is sharing the encouraging message that she learned the hard way: God changes weaknesses to strengths and misery to ministry if we cooperate with him. In her books, seminars and retreats she shares practical ways to draw closer to Christ and open the door to his transforming power. She has received encouraging e-mails from as far away as New Zealand saying how life-changing her words have been.
After a life-long struggle with overeating and the health problems that went with it, in 1982 Julie lost her harmful extra pounds by discovering how to rely on God’s power instead of her sagging will power. She delighted in sharing what she learned and became involved in a lay counseling ministry, helping others to grow spiritually, lose weight and make other healthy lifestyle changes.
In 1992, she founded Step Forward, a Christian weight-loss program, and started writing the Step Forward series, published by Abingdon Press, in which she shares the practical biblical principles that have changed so many lives—including her own (www.stepforwarddiet.com).
Julie lost not only her extra weight, but the worries and feelings of inferiority that weighed her down. In From Worry to Worship (www.worrytoworship.com) and From Worthless to Worthy (www.worthlesstoworthy.com), she shares fresh biblical insights and inspiring personal anecdotes, along with simple tips for overcoming these two weaknesses. Both of these books were published by New Hope. Julie and her daughter, Sarah Morris Cherry, have written a light and easy 12-week Christian weight-loss program, Guided By Him… to a Thinner, Not So Stressed-Out You! (www.guidedbyhim.com).
In addition to being an author and speaker, Julie has been a secretary at the Pentagon, Spanish teacher, newspaper columnist, intensive care nurse and the supervisor of a large hospital medical-surgical unit. She is the mother of two adult children and has been married for over 40 years to her college sweetheart.
